The vital Kensington High Street and Worlds End Post Office branches are at risk of closure under plans by Post Office Ltd. to offload 115 wholly-owned “Crown branches”.

These branches provide essential postal and banking services to thousands of residents, small businesses, and visitors. Closing them would cause huge inconvenience, forcing residents to travel much further to access key services. Elderly residents and those with limited mobility would be hit the hardest.

Kensington & Chelsea Liberal Democrats are calling on decision-makers to put the community first and rule out the closure of these branches.

Alexandra Ames, Liberal Democrat campaigner for Queen’s Gate ward, said:

“The proposals from the Post Office are deeply alarming. Many in our community rely on these branches as their only way to access essential services. Their closure would cause massive inconvenience to residents.

The Post Office should listen to the community and rule out the closure of these branches.”

Cllr Tim Verboven added…

“Closure of these post offices would hurt small businesses and force some of our most vulnerable residents to travel further to access key services. The Post Office needs to think again”
